What can you expect when you stop taking plaquenil

I've been on plaquenil for 6 months for suspected Sjogren's syndrome (I don't have antibodies for Sjorgren's or Lupus but I do have Hashimoto's and have all the symptoms for Sjorgren's so the rheumatologist suggested a trial of plaquenil). Basically I've been on the drug since January and saw the rheumatologist on Wednesday to see how things are going.

Once remission has been achieved, whether you stop taking your RA medication is up to you and your doctor. Vivian Bykerk, MD, director of the Inflammatory Arthritis Center of Excellence, Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City, makes sure her patients maintain remission-level symptoms for at least one year before reducing their medications. Jun 19, 2013 I was told I didn't have to taper it like prednisone, and that I shouldn't expect any rebound type of reaction like you get when your body adjusts to being off pred. But everyone is taking a different mix of drugs and maybe you're taking something I don't that would make your doctor's recommendation for you different. Plaquenil is supposed to stay in your system for 1-2 months after you stop taking it. Try to rest, stay hydrated and away from sick ppl for now and hopefully you will not have any issues ranin02

I do think it's helped with fatigue and muscle pain but it's hard for me to compare to Xmas as when the improvement is so gradual I think it's really hard to notice on a gradual basis. I *think* I'm improving but it's been a gradual process and I said to him that it's quite hard to tell how much of an improvement I'm feeling.

Plaquenil can make you completely blind! *Legitimate looking vitamins I take to help remediate it I took Plaquenil for over 13 years and it caused me and 6 in every 1000 patients, new research shows to have toxic maculopathy it caused. *re even if you quit taking the drug, it can continue to damage the eye until blindness occurs. Track DMARD Effects. DMARDs are often standard treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Even if you've been taking them a while, you still need to track how well they work and watch for side effects. Jan 28, 2011 with the condition your in already by the sounds of it I wouldnt mess with it. why dont you just kinda fake it? the damage wouldnt be worth the cash. personally all I take is minocycline but if I was in your shoes I wouldnt stop if it provided a certain level of releif. and yes plaquenil does lose its affectiveness if you stop taking it. my moms cousin took it for years as it gave him the.
